BROWNIES

Step 1 - brownie cake layer

1 ½ Cups soft butter
3 Cups sugar
6 eggs unbeaten
1 Cup cocoa
2 ¼ Cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons vanilla
1 ½ teaspoon salt
1 Cup chopped nuts (optional)

Cream butter. Add sugar slowly, blending well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Blend in cocoa, flour, and salt. Add vanilla (and nuts if desired). Pour batter in greased & floured cookie sheet (11 x 17). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool.

Step 2 – bottom frosting layer

½ Cup butter
2 Tablespoons INSTANT vanilla pudding powder
3 Tablespoons milk
2 Cups powdered sugar

Cream butter. Beat in instant vanilla pudding powder and milk. Gradually beat in powdered sugar. Spread on cooled brownies and set aside to harden. NOTE: May use chocolate pudding.

Step 3 – top frosting layer

3 Tablespoons melted butter
1/2 Cup cocoa
1/3 Cup milk
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
3 ½ Cups powdered sugar
Dash of salt

Mix butter and cocoa. Add milk and vanilla. Add powdered sugar and salt slowly. May use more milk if necessary for spreading. NOTE: May substitute a box of fudge frosting instead of making your own in step 3 only.

Milk – 1/3 cup & 3 tablespoons
Powdered sugar 5 ½ cups
Salt - dash
Sugar – 3 cups
Vanilla – 4 ¼ teaspoons
